I wouldn't call my past a success by any measure... So I'm a B.Eng., but so what? I'd call it "success" if it was due to hard work, but I'm inclined to claim the main factors were intelligence, luck (I asked for a thesis subject at the right time; it had come available only recently and I had enough rage to fuel the process) and ADD hyperfocus.
